State Scope of Practice

A Doctor of Chiropractic is a portal of entry health care provider who engages in the practice of health care, which includes:

  1. The practice of health care deals with the diagnosis and correction of subluxations, functional vertebral or articular dysarthrosis, or neuromuscular skeletal disorders for the restoration and maintenance of health.
  2. The use of physical and clinical examinations, diagnostic X-rays, and clinical laboratory procedures that are limited to urine collection, finger pricks, or venipuncture in order to determine the propriety of a regimen of chiropractic care or to form a basis for referral of patients to other licensed health care professionals, or both.
  3. Treatment by adjustment of the spine or bodily articulations, including physical medicine modalities and therapeutic procedures; procedures related to the correction of subluxations and neuromuscular skeletal disorders; prescription of orthopedic supports; acupuncture.
Continuing Education

All licensees must complete up to twelve (12) hours of continuing education for each calendar year. Including a minimum of two (2) hours of record keeping every even calendar year.

To be eligible to renew a license, a licensee shall complete 12 hours of continuing education between January 1st and December 31st of each year and document compliance with continuing education requirements on the license renewal application as required.

Each course shall be on subjects of CLINICAL BENEFIT TO THE CONSUMER OF CHIROPRACTIC SERVICE. The course must have a significant relationship to assessing, diagnosing, or treating patients within the chiropractic practice scope, as defined in A.R.S. § 32-925 and 32-922.02. The primary consideration in determining whether a specific course qualifies as acceptable continuing education is that it must be a formal program of learning which will contribute directly to the professional competence of a licensee in the practice of chiropractic.

Course Requirements:

The State of Arizona has no specific requirements for the number of hours taken either via in-person courses or online. The course needs to meet the criteria outlined below to be utilized for annual renewal purposes. Each licensee is responsible for determining in advance that the course they attend qualifies for continuing education under this Article.

What To Consider When Selecting A Plan

Claims Made

A policy providing coverage that is triggered when a claim is made against the insured during the policy period, regardless of when the wrongful act that gave rise to the claim took place. (The one exception is when a retroactive date is applicable to a claims-made policy.)

Occurrence

An occurrence policy covers claims resulting from an injury or another event that occurs during the policy term. Coverage depends on the timing of the event. A claims-made policy covers claims that are made during the policy period.

Tail Coverage

An addition to a claims-made policy. It extends coverage for incidents that happened during the time you had your policy, but a claim was not filed until after your policy expired or was canceled. Tail coverage is another name for an extended reporting period.

Note: $1 Million/$3 Million is the minimum plan required in order to participate with some Insurance Companies.

6. Participating with Insurance Providers

Note: Before starting a practice in an area, check to see whether the Insurance Companies are accepting new providers.
