Missouri Chiropractic Summary

The Missouri State Board of Chiropractic Examiners registers, licenses, and regulates all chiropractors in the state. Members review and act on issues of discipline, licensure, rules and regulations, legislation and other business. The board has the power to revoke, suspend, deny, probate and reinstate licenses. The Missouri State Board of Chiropractic Examiners protects the public from incompetence, misconduct, gross negligence, fraud, misrepresentation or dishonesty; licenses only “qualified” professionals by examination and evaluation of minimum competency; enforces standards by implementing legislation and administrative rules; and encourages economic development and partnerships with existing small businesses.

The “practice of chiropractic” is defined as the science and art of examination, diagnosis, adjustment, manipulation and treatment both in inpatient and outpatient settings, by those methods commonly taught in any chiropractic college or chiropractic program in a university which has been accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education, its successor entity or approved by the board. The practice of chiropractic may include meridian therapy/acupressure/acupuncture with certification as required by the board.
