New Hampshire Chiropractic Summary

Generally, a wide scope, defined as what is taught by chiropractic schools. Wide variety of practice styles, mostly dominated by generalist family practice and sports practices. About 400 licenses, but we estimate about 200 practicing DC in NH. Two organizations, the NH Chiro Assn and NH State Chiro Society. Variation in insurance network participation by DCs, but commercial networks are open, dominated by Anthem, United, HP, Aetna, Cigna. Chiropractic not currently funded through Medicaid. Chiropractic workforce and leadership is dominated by late career practitioners.

Courses sponsored by a school or college accredited by CCE or any other national or regional accrediting agency approved by the United States Department of Education are automatically approved (if an approved subject). Courses not meeting these requirements need approval by the Board.

Qualifications:

1. A chiropractor can perform a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam if they are a certified medical examiner (CME) listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) National Registry.

2. Requires LAc degree.

3. Dry needling must have been trained as part of an accredited DC program or through a continuing education program accredited by a chiropractic college.

4. If trained by a chiropractic college.

5. Under current legislation, may include any region and plan must relate treatment to the spine in some capacity.
