Oklahoma Chiropractic Summary

The mission of the Oklahoma Board of Chiropractic Examiners is to regulate the qualification for licensure and examination as Chiropractors; protect the public and Chiropractic in reference to complaints through public meeting and hearing pursuant to the Chiropractic Practice Act; approve educational programs required for annual license renewal and to foster higher professional standards relative to the practice of Chiropractic in the state of Oklahoma as is consistent with the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the public.

Chiropractic is the science and art that teaches health in anatomic relation and disease or abnormality in anatomic disrelation, and includes hygienic, sanitary and therapeutic measures incident thereto. The scope of practice of chiropractic shall include those diagnostic and treatment services and procedures which have been taught by an accredited chiropractic college and have been approved by the Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Continuing Education requirements

16 hours required every 2 years. 8 hours may be earned online. 8 hours must be obtained live, in-state.

Any Association or any Chiropractic College applying for continuing education shall submit a fee of $300 for each individual course/seminar. If the course has multiple modules and/or dates, they are considered individually. Therefore, each module or course with multiple dates will be $300 each. Qualifications:

1. A chiropractor can perform a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam if they are a certified medical examiner (CME) listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) National Registry.

2. A chiropractic physician may engage in practice of animal chiropractic diagnosis and treatment if certified to do so by the Board. A licensed chiropractic physician may provide chiropractic treatment to an animal without being certified in animal chiropractic diagnosis and treatment if the animal has been referred to the chiropractic physician by a licensed veterinarian.

3. Chiropractors who want to practice acupuncture must apply for registration with the Board and provide proof of completing an acupuncture course.

4. Chiropractors who want to practice dry needling must apply for registration with the Board and provide proof of completing a dry needling course.
